Like many of us, Jay travelled to Australia chasing sunshine, surf, and intervals of hard work for decent pay.
It took Jay about all of two weeks to realise the backpacker job market is F ** k e d.
Hundreds of résumés sent. Dozens of scammy listings dodged. Eventually, Jay landed something — a job that sounded alright. No clue what the place was like, no idea about the accommodation, and definitely no way of knowing if the employer could be trusted.
35 hours of covered land later and Jay arrived.
Three weeks in and those “40+ hours a week” turned out to be more like 15. The accommodation was fine, but no Wi-Fi (or oven) wasn’t exactly in the ad.
Jay made lemonade.
I’m Jay, and I named that lemonade, WanderTrustJobs
